Amazon SES publishes sending events (sends, deliveries, bounces, complaints, rejects, delivery delays, rendering failures, subscriptions, opens, and clicks) through an event destination on each configuration set. Amazon Data Firehose — add an Amazon Data Firehose event destination to the configuration set and point it at Bronto. This delivers the full event JSON — mail{}, the event-specific object (delivery{}, bounce{}, open{}, click{}, …), and nested tags{} — which Bronto parses and flattens into searchable fields automatically.
The CloudWatch event destination publishes metrics only, not the event JSON.

Alternatives

  • EventBridge API Destinations — add an Amazon EventBridge event destination to the configuration set, then create a rule that targets a Bronto API destination. Each event arrives as JSON.

Mail Manager logs

SES Mail Manager can deliver ingress endpoint and rule set logs as JSON directly to Amazon Data Firehose. In the SES console, open the ingress endpoint or rule set, expand Add log delivery, and choose your Bronto stream. See Ingesting AWS Data into Bronto for the full service-to-method mapping.
